You need an obstetrician who is accredited at Westmead Private. The hospital asks you to finish your admission by the fourth month of pregnancy.

  1. Choose your obstetrician. The hospital's website has a list of accredited obstetricians. Your obstetrician gives you an antenatal card at your first visit, so carry it with you.
  2. Fill in the online maternity admission. It takes about 30 minutes. Have your Medicare card, health fund details and your GP's name and address ready.
  3. Finish your health history. Complete the online maternity health history and consents. Your obstetrician sends the admission referral and consent form to the hospital for you.
  4. Wait for your confirmation. Once the hospital has all three parts, you get a letter confirming your booking within 10 business days.
  5. Book your classes and a tour. Book classes as soon as you get the email confirming your booking. Classes are for Westmead Private maternity patients only.

If you do not have private health insurance, ask the Maternity Bookings team about the hospital's self-funded maternity package.
