FAQ's
Before Use
When to start Perfect Noggin for best results?
1 -3 months
The ideal time to start! Use the Perfect Noggin until your baby begins to roll back to belly.
4 -5 months
If your baby isn’t rolling back to belly yet, it’s not too late! Start using the Perfect Noggin as soon as possible and as frequently as you can. Even if your baby begins to roll, you can continue with adult supervision. Starting with the Perfect Noggin now may help you avoid helmet therapy entirely or help minimise the amount of time your baby may need to wear a helmet if that becomes necessary later.
6 months
If your baby is not yet rolling at 6 months, there may not be enough time to achieve the desired results. If you are concerned about your baby’s head shape, a helmet would be a more effective alternative.
What are the contraindications for using the Perfect Noggin?
If your baby have any significant medical problems such as craniosynostosis, severe reflux, breathing issues, cardiac problems, bone or joint abnormalities, they should not use the Perfect Noggin.
Is the Perfect Noggin sleep safe?
Yes, it is firm, flat, and has no loose components, meeting safe sleep recommendations.
What are the measurements of the Perfect Noggin?
The Perfect Noggin measures 75cm (L) x 34cm (W) x 11cm (H).
Will the Perfect Noggin fit in my bassinet?
The Perfect Noggin fits most standard bassinets. Many parents using popular models like the Snoo and Halo have reported it fits well. We do recommend measuring your bassinet to ensure a proper fit before use.
My baby is 5 months old and not yet rolling, is it too late to start my baby on the Perfect Noggin?
If your baby is not yet rolling from back to stomach, it is not too late to start using the Perfect Noggin. We recommend purchasing it as soon as possible and using it as much as possible. If your baby starts to roll, you can continue to use it with adult supervision. Starting with the Perfect Noggin now may help you avoid helmet therapy entirely or help minimise the amount of time your baby may need to wear a helmet if that becomes necessary later.
My baby is 6 months old and not yet rolling, is it too late to start my baby on the Perfect Noggin?
At 6 months old, even if your baby is not yet rolling, there may not be enough time to achieve the desired results. If you would like to improve your baby's head shape, a helmet would be a more effective alternative.
During Use
How soon will I see results?
Results vary but are generally visible within 4-6 weeks of consistent use.
How many hours per day does my baby need to sleep on the Perfect Noggin?
Your baby should ideally spend all sleep time on the Perfect Noggin, but at minimum it should be used for overnight sleep. The more you can use it, the better the results.
How long will my baby take to adjust to the Perfect Noggin?
Some infants may take a few days to get comfortable lying on the Perfect Noggin and some will take up to 2 weeks. Most parents tell us that after a brief adjustment period, their infants loved sleeping on the Perfect Noggin and slept better than ever!
Will it still work if my baby turns their head while sleeping on the Perfect Noggin?
Yes, the contoured design ensures effectiveness regardless of head position. No need to reposition your baby's head!
How do I know if my baby is on the right layer?
Use the supplied measuring tape to help you select the right layer. Make sure there are only a few millimeters of space on either side of their ears. If there is too much room, try replacing it with a smaller layer. The fit should be snug, similar to how a shoe fits your foot.
There is extra room above the head where my baby lays their head, is this normal?
Yes, there should be excess room above the head. Please do not move your infant to fill the gap.
Can my baby be swaddled while sleeping on the Perfect Noggin?
Yes, any swaddle or sleep sack can be used.
My baby keeps sliding down the Perfect Noggin, what do you recommend?
Some infants may wiggle, scoot, or kick out of position on the mattress. This issue can usually be addressed by swaddling your baby if they are amenable and/or by adding a “speed bump”, which can be made by rolling a small face towel in the long direction (like a cigar) and placing it under the cloth cover just below the infant’s rear end.
My baby’s head sweats a lot while sleeping on the Perfect Noggin, what do you recommend?
The Perfect Noggin is made of closed-cell foam, similar to what is used for helmets. Your infant’s head may perspire in very hot and humid climates. Usually this can be addressed by maintaining a cooler ambient temperature or using an overhead fan. We do not recommend, for safety reasons, placing cloth or padding into or over the head recess.
My baby has developed a bald spot at the back of their head since they have been sleeping on the Perfect Noggin, is this normal?
It is a temporary issue that can also occur outside of the Perfect Noggin and is completely normal. The hair follicles remain healthy, and the hair will regrow. If it is a significant concern, you can place the Perfect Noggin inside a pillowcase to reduce any shear forces.
Once my baby can roll back to stomach, can they no longer use the Perfect Noggin?
Once your baby can roll from back to belly, you can still use the Perfect Noggin with adult supervision. The goal is to reach this point with a head shape you are happy with.
How long should my baby use the Perfect Noggin? Should we stop once his head has rounded out?
Your baby should stop using the Perfect Noggin when torticollis (if present) is fully resolved, they are older than 4 months, and you are satisfied with their head shape. Alternatively, you can continue using it until they start rolling from back to belly. At that point, you can decide whether to continue with supervised use, transition to a helmet, or stop using it altogether.
When should I switch to the next layer?
Measure your baby’s head weekly using the supplied tape. If the fit starts to feel snug or your baby’s head seems pressed into the current layer, it’s time to move to the next size up to ensure comfort and continued shaping progress.
How do I clean the Perfect Noggin?
Base & Foam Layers: Wipe gently with a diluted baby wash solution and water as needed.
Cotton Cover: Machine wash in cold water and air-dry.
After Use
My baby started rolling from back to belly earlier than expected, so I had to stop using the Perfect Noggin. Is there anything else I can do to improve their head shape?
If you’re still hoping to improve your baby’s head shape, you may consider transitioning to helmet therapy. The good news is that by using the Perfect Noggin early, you’ve likely already made meaningful progress which will reduce the amount of time your baby would need to wear a helmet.
How do I store away the Perfect Noggin for my next baby?
When you're finished using the Perfect Noggin, follow these steps to store it correctly:
1. Clean the foam layers and base, making sure it’s fully dry.
2. Place it in its original box and protective bag to keep it dust-free.
3. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to protect the foam from flattening.
With proper storage, your Perfect Noggin will be good as new, ready for the next little one!
