FAQ's

How soon will I see results?

Results vary but are generally visible within 4-6 weeks of overnight use.

How do I know which layer to use?

Use the supplied measuring tape and instructions to find the correct layer.

Is the Perfect Noggin Sleep Safe?

Yes, it is firm, flat, and has no loose components, meeting safe sleep recommendations.

Will it still work if my baby turns their head while sleeping on the Perfect Noggin?

Yes, the contoured design ensures effectiveness regardless of head position.

How many hours per day does my baby need to sleep on the Perfect Noggin?

Your baby should ideally spend all sleep time on the Perfect Noggin, but at minimum it should be used for overnight sleep. The more you can use it, the better the results.

There is extra room above the head where my baby lays their head, is this normal?

Yes, there should be excess room above the head - do not move your infant to fill the gap.

Can my baby be swaddled while sleeping on the Perfect Noggin?

Yes.

Once a baby can roll, can they no longer use the Perfect Noggin?

Once a baby can roll from back to belly, the Perfect Noggin can only be used under supervision (such as during day naps and the first part of the night before you go to bed). The goal is to reach this point with a head shape you are happy with.

My baby keeps sliding down the Perfect Noggin, what do you recommend?

Some infants may wiggle, scoot, or kick out of position on the mattress. This issue can usually be addressed by swaddling your baby if they are amenable and/or by adding a “speed bump”, which can be made by rolling a small face towel in the long direction (like a cigar) and placing it under the cloth cover just below the infant’s rear end.

My baby’s head sweats a lot while sleeping on the Perfect Noggin, what do you recommend?

The Perfect Noggin is made of closed-cell foam, similar to what is used for helmets. Your infant’s head may perspire in very hot and humid climates. Usually this can be addressed by maintaining a cooler ambient temperature or using an overhead fan. We do not recommend, for safety reasons, placing cloth or padding into or over the head recess.

My baby has developed a bald spot at the back of their head since they have been sleeping on the Perfect Noggin, is this normal?

It is a temporary issue that can also occur outside of the Perfect Noggin and is completely normal. The hair follicles remain healthy, and the hair will regrow. If it is a significant concern, you can place the Perfect Noggin inside a pillowcase to reduce any shear forces.

What are the measurements of the Perfect Noggin?

The Perfect Noggin measures 76cm (L) x 36cm (W) x 11cm (H).

Will the Perfect Noggin fit in my bassinet?

The Perfect Noggin fits most bassinets. We have parents that have the Snoo and Halo Bassinet and they have reported that it fits in these popular bassinets.

How long does a baby take to get comfortable on the Perfect Noggin?

Some infants may take a few days to get comfortable lying on the Perfect Noggin, and this is especially true for infants who start using the product at or after 3 months. Most parents tell us that after a brief adjustment period, their infants loved sleeping on the Perfect Noggin and slept better than ever!

My baby struggles with reflux and tends to spit up. Is it safe for them to use the Perfect Noggin?

Yes, it is safe. The Perfect Noggin provides a flat sleep surface, which is recommended by Red Nose Australia for babies with reflux.

My baby is 5 months old and not yet rolling, is it too late to start my baby on the Perfect Noggin?

If your baby is not yet rolling from back to stomach, it is not too late to start using the Perfect Noggin. We recommend purchasing it as soon as possible and using it as much as possible. If your baby starts to roll, you can continue to use it with adult supervision. Starting with the Perfect Noggin now can help minimize the amount of time your baby may need to wear a helmet if that becomes necessary later.

My baby is 6 months old and not yet rolling, is it too late to start my baby on the Perfect Noggin?

At 6 months old, even if your baby is not yet rolling, there may not be enough time to achieve the desired results. If you are concerned about your baby's head shape, a helmet would be a more effective alternative.

My baby is over 6 months and I have therefore missed out on the Perfect Noggin. What other alternative do I have to help my baby’s flat spot?

If your baby’s head shape really bothers you, the only treatment option available at this age is a helmet.

How long should my baby use the Perfect Noggin? Should we stop once his head has rounded out?

Your baby should stop using the Perfect Noggin when torticollis (if present) is fully resolved, they are older than 4 months, and you are satisfied with their head shape. Alternatively, you can continue using it until they start rolling from back to belly. At that point, you can decide whether to continue with supervised use, transition to a helmet, or stop using it altogether.
