Does St Vincent's Toowoomba have a special care nursery?

Yes. It has a Level 4 Special Care Nursery. It cares for babies born from 32 weeks, babies with a low birth weight, twins and other multiple births, and babies with problems such as jaundice, low blood sugar or short-term breathing problems. You can be with your baby as often and for as long as you like, and you can hold, feed, change and bathe your baby.

How long will I stay at St Vincent's Toowoomba after the birth?

After an uncomplicated vaginal birth, you can go home any time after two nights, up to 10am on day four. After a routine caesarean, you can go home from three nights, up to day five. Checkout is at 10am. The Dorothea Devine Maternity Ward has 16 private rooms, each with an ensuite, fridge, TV, phone and free wifi.

One adult partner or support person can stay overnight in your room. Tell your midwife early. A fee applies for overnight stays. Children cannot stay overnight. Visiting hours on the ward are 8am to 8pm every day.
