Does Buderim Private Hospital have a special care nursery?

Yes. The Special Care Nursery is accredited to care for babies who need specialised care. It has seven neonatal cots, and the hospital describes it as a Level 4 neonatal care service. If your labour starts before 32 weeks, you may be transferred to a Brisbane hospital, because babies born this early may need an intensive care nursery. When your baby no longer needs that care, they may be transferred back to Buderim to grow and develop.

How long will I stay at Buderim Private Hospital after giving birth?

If you and your baby are healthy, you can usually expect to stay about three to four days after a vaginal birth, or around four to five days after a caesarean. Your baby stays in your room with you. Rooms have a private ensuite, and partners are encouraged to stay overnight. There is a lounge room in the middle of the maternity ward where your family can spend time together while you rest in your own room. Your doctor talks through your recovery plan with you before you go home.
