- Ask your GP for a referral. Your GP or specialist sends it to the Joondalup Health Campus Antenatal Clinic by email or fax. It needs to include all scans and test results from this pregnancy.
- Wait for the clinic to call. The clinic contacts you to set up your first appointment, which may be held online. It is usually by 20 weeks of pregnancy.
- Ask about shared care. If your pregnancy is low risk, ask your GP whether they share antenatal care with the hospital.
- Keep up your check-ups. From 20 to 32 weeks you visit the clinic every four weeks. After 32 weeks, visits are every two weeks.
What pregnancy care options are there at Joondalup Health Campus?
- Midwife-led Antenatal Clinic. As a public patient, you see the clinic's midwives for your check-ups. The clinic cares for both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies and also runs a Diabetes Clinic.
- GP shared care. For a low-risk pregnancy, a GP or endorsed midwife and the hospital work as one team. You see your shared care partner for most visits, and the hospital cares for you in labour and straight after the birth.

- Private care. Private patients see a private obstetrician. Ramsay Private at Joondalup Health Campus runs a separate private maternity service on the same site.
Other public options include the Family Birth Centre at King Edward Memorial Hospital and the Community Midwifery Program, which supports home birth for women in metropolitan Perth expecting a low-risk pregnancy and birth.
