How do I book in at Northpark Private Hospital to have my baby?
Northpark is a private hospital, so your care is led by an obstetrician. Your obstetrician does not book your stay at the hospital. You do that yourself.
- See your GP. After your GP confirms your pregnancy, ask for a referral to an obstetrician.
- Complete your eAdmission. After your first appointment with your obstetrician, create an account on the hospital's eAdmission portal and start a new admission. Have your obstetrician's name, health fund details, GP details and emergency contact ready.
- Wait for the paperwork. Maternity Booking staff send you paperwork and a date and time for a midwife to phone you.
- Take the midwife's pre-admission call. It covers your questions, your antenatal history and how ready you feel for your stay.
- Check costs early. Contact your health fund early. You receive a cost estimate, including any excess or co-payments, after your eAdmission. For booking questions, call (03) 9468 0503.
What pregnancy care options does Northpark Private Hospital offer?
- Private obstetrician care. Your obstetrician looks after you in pregnancy and at the birth. The hospital lists the obstetricians who work at Northpark on its maternity pages.
- Childbirth education. Classes cover the signs and stages of labour, breastfeeding, when to come to hospital, and vaginal and caesarean births. They are currently online through Microsoft Teams.
- Physiotherapy class. A postnatal class on pelvic floor care, core strength and back discomfort, which you can attend during your stay or later.
