Northern Territory birthing hospitals
Every maternity hospital we cover in the Northern Territory, grouped by region. Each guide explains how to book in, what the birth suite and rooms are like, how long you are likely to stay and who to call.
Public or private?
The biggest choice most families make first. Here is how the two usually differ.
- No hospital fees for Medicare card holders
- Care from hospital midwives and doctors, or shared with your GP
- You will not usually choose which obstetrician you see
- There has been no private maternity hospital in the Territory since June 2025
- Private patients can give birth at Royal Darwin Hospital
- NT Health offers private obstetrician-led and midwife-led care packages there
No hospitals in our guides match all of these. Try removing a filter.
